Churches in Halwill Parish

St Peter and St James

Halwill Beaworthy
07484880770

The church dates from the 13th century although the remains of a Saxon preaching cross in the churchyard show that there has been a Christian community here for well over a thousand years. The tower is original Norman whilst the nave was extended and modified in Victorian times. The traditional surrounding church yard is a haven of peace and wild life.

The church is open during day light hours and visitors are always welcome. An information board outside the church tells the story of the local community. Inside the church there is an interactive touch screen display that tells the story of the church and the local community. This includes the Victorian "old" village school (learn what previous head teachers thought), the steam railway in nearby Halwill Junction and the old cottage hospital.

We are a small but very friendly crowd and we are always pleased to meet visitors; do come along to one of services, times are on display outside the church or in "News and Notices" below.
